Dr. Mutschenbacher has over 40 years of varied professional experience in major civil engineering projects, including;

1990 - Present - Principal of his own Engineering/Consulting firm. Lead Designer in 1991 on the LAX-Palmdale 70-mi High Speed Rail and in 1992 on the 2.8 mi People Mover to LAX from the Green Line. Civil engineering design and consulting on Inland Shopping Center, San Bernardino and 24 large single-family compounds in Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Malibu, Orange County and Lake Tahoe. Performed utility expediting. Expert witness in 35 court cases.

1978 - ‘89 - Director of Civil Engineering and VP, Charles Kober Associates, a prominent architectural/engineering company in Los Angeles. Led civil engineering design of $2 l/2 billion worth of residential, commercial, industrial, and transportation projects, including; small and large shopping centers, hotels, governmental and educational facilities. Supervised over 25 civil engineers and designers on major development projects in the U.S., Saudi Arabia, and Mexico. His responsibilities included defining surveying and mapping requirements, grading, paving, drainage and utilities in close coordination with architects and landscape architects; monitoring soil engineers; and acting as liaison between governmental agencies and clients.

1965 - ‘78 - Project Manager, DMJM, an international civil engineering company in Los Angeles. Lead designer and manager on a number of large public works projects including:

Acted also as a trouble-shooter in DMJM’s 25 offices on 4 continents.

1957 - ‘64 - Design Engineer on the 20-mi Freeway, Reno, NV, Traffic Circulation Plan for San Rafael, 1.5-mi Freeway Counter Plan to Div. of Highways in Daly City, Refuse Study with 20-yr projection for the City of San Francisco, 7 Highway & Railroad Overpasses, Standard- and Narrow-Gauge Rail lines, 20-km Bicycle Paths. Designed Large Subdivisions and Land Development like Porter Ranch. Won numerous awards for high-quality design and cash prizes for construction cost reductions.
