CURRENT TRANSPORTATION CONTRACTS
A Major Southern California Attraction approached Transportation Innovations Group (TIG) to prepare a Phase I design report exploring options and developing design criteria to replace their existing Monorail System with several smaller more diversified, guest friendly, and entertaining people moving systems. TIG was engaged, started work on 1 November 2002, and delivered a comprehensive Phase I report on 31 March 2003.
As directed by this Client, we collectively have taken into account the Long Range Plan for their facility. Our mutual objective was to create a significant improvement in the guest experience with new tours that provided better views of the attractions in more comfortable vehicles. The new transportation systems (including advanced Trams and PRTs on dedicated guideways with guest stations) are designed to provide park operations with the freedom to re-route, modify, and expand their tours in the future at minimal further expense. The vehicles are designed to be an attraction in themselves, thereby expanding the present guest experience. We have found on prior projects of this type that these improvements can significantly increase park attendance.
This report presented recommendations for the replacement of a monorail system, which has been operating at the Clients Facility for more than 30 years. TIG developed this report around its normal format for developing new vehicles and prototypes. That is, to explore all of the viable alternatives, compare them with trade-off studies, failure mode analysis, and value engineering. TIG then selects off-the shelf components that can be assembled to produce the final product. The objective is to present to the client all of these choices, and to work with them in review of these alternatives, to arrive at a final solution.
The Phase I report prepared for this Client was well received and after review by their Board of Directors we are presently moving ahead with the Design Development phases of this project. TIG is concurrently in negotiation with several other Major Projects across the country to develop our proprietary People Moving Technologies for application at their sites as well. Towards this end we have completed the design of our Test Track which will be capable of facilitating the final test and adjusting phases of the propulsion, performance, and control systems for all of the various size and type of vehicles that make up our line of People Moving Systems.
The following images represent a small sampling of the graphical information included in the Phase I Final Report described above which comprises two volumes and totals more than 300 pages.
